On Sam, looking at Torres in the hospital, hearing footsteps come up behind him.

Sam: "It's a private room. Go away."

Bucky comes into view beside Sam.

Bucky: "Missed you too."

They look at each other. Bucky a soft smile. Sam looks away, a smile tugging the corner of his mouth.

Sam: "I hate to admit it...I'm glad you're here."

Sam looks back to Bucky and they both go in for a hug, Bucky closing his eyes in it. They part, stood side-by-side again.

Bucky: "You looked good out there on that 6 o'clock."

Sam shakes his head a bashful smile. Then sombre again.

Bucky: "But then I saw this."

Sam: "Doctors had to restart his heart. They don't know if..."

Sam closes his eyes.

Bucky: "This isn't your fault."

Sam: "It makes me think of Steve. How many alien invasions did he stop, again?"

Bucky: "Two."

Sam: "Two. Wow. What made me think I could follow that. I should have took the serum. Like Steve. Like you."

Bucky looking at Sam.

Bucky: "Why?"

Sam: "Because this is all starting to seem much bigger than me."

Sam turns to fully face Bucky.

Sam: "Ross, he asked me to restart the Avengers, Buck. But Joaquin's in here. Isaiah's in prison. And Sterns...I had him. I had Sterns. Right in my hands. And he got away. He damn near pushed us to the brink of war, because I wasn't—"

Sam emotionally cuts himself off.

Bucky: "Say what you need to say."

Sam looks down, then back to Bucky.

Sam: "Steve made a mistake."

Bucky: "No he didn't. He gave you that shield, not because you're the strongest, but because you're you. You think if you had that serum, you'd be able to protect all the people you care about. Steve had it, and he couldn't. You're a human being and you're doing your best. Steve gave people something to believe in, but you...you give them something to aspire to."

Sam squints at Bucky.

Sam: "Did your speech writers help you with that?"

Bucky: "They did, yeah, the ending, a little bit. Well, did you like it? Was it—?"

Sam: "No no, it was good. Solid...B plus."

Bucky: "Yeah. Emotional."

Sam: "Very. I felt it."

Bucky: "But just enough."

Sam: "Yeah."

Bucky: "Listen, I've gotta...catch a plane. I have a campaign fundraiser. It's so stupid."

They look over Torres, smiling. Bucky looks at Sam.

Bucky: "He's gonna be all right, man."

Sam looks at Bucky, shakes Bucky's hand.

Sam: "Thanks, Buck."

Bucky: "I love you, buddy."

Bucky cuffs Sam's arm and leaves; Sam nods, looking after him.

Mini rant. (This has no spoilers for Thunderbolts btw but just what early reviewers say)

Am I the only one who is lowkey upset that early reviews for thunderbolts is hyping up the movie up saying it’s “perfect” and “the best mcu project since endgame” While Cap BNW recieved nothing but hate :(

Don’t get me wrong, I’m super excited for Thunderbolts, I love my baby girl Bucky and Yelena and just everyone and their chaoticness! However I’m just more upset at the fact that basically all the early reviews for Cap BNW were negative. After I watched the movie I loved it, I told my roommate that I might be a little biased because I ADORE Sam and said I loved the movie, it was really fun. And he said “Im not biased and I’d give it a solid 8/10 because a 10 would mean it was perfect”. And he’s a comic book NERD (I mean this in the nicest way possible :)) like I enjoy comics too but he knows like EVERYTHING and he usually critiques stuff so I was impressed that BNW was an 8 to him. So yeah, I’m not sure if I’m like the only one who feels like this but BNW recieved way too much hate and it’s just upsetting. Again I want to clarify I mean no hate to thunderbolts, im just upset at the fact that they’re recieving more love/care than Sam did in BNW. That’s all!

finding through the cabnw tag a lot of gif set of sam and joaquín made me remind of the scene where he tells sam he wanted to be like him and he felt the pressure of filling the falcon role because sam was just that good, that perfect and he wanted to be exactly like him. i love that scene so much cause someone finally told sam he was already a great superheroe even before taking the mantle of such a big name as captain america.

i love those kind of scene where ppl tell sam he was always a good man but also a great fighter and thats why he was always the best choice for being captain america.

i love sam so much, i need to rewatch that movie again cause i already miss him

I fw the Sam and Joaquin dynamic so heavy.

(Using proper capitalization for the stuff I care about again.)

They have a very clear sort-of mentor and trainee dynamic, with Joaquin taking up the Falcon mantel and also asking Sam to teach him new stuff throughout the film, but I also think it's more than that.

Not only do their interactions feel more like they're peers, despite this mentorship, but also it's interesting because Sam, as the mentor, is learning as much as Joaquin is while taking on the weight of the responsibility of being the new Captain America.

I just find it very interesting, because I feel like a lot of mentor and trainee relationships tend to be like: The mentor has been doing this for a while and needs to guide the trainee onto the right path.

But the thing is... Sam and Joaquin both feel very similar burdens of stepping into this role that was previously held by someone they respect/admire a lot for their decision making skills and how much they're able to help people.

I wish it were explored more but, yk, there's the foundation of it there somewhere, and it's something I've been thinking about a lot.
